An overview of the differences between Shimano Generation 1 & 2:
Compatibility of batteries and chargers:
The following must be urgently observed for the battery variants & chargers: The batteries of the two frame generations are not compatible, which means that cross-swapping between the generations is not possible! The chargers are also explicitly not compatible. This means that a Generation 1.0 charger cannot be used for Generation 2.0 frames and vice versa.
How do you recognize the frame generations in the configurator?
It's quite simple! All 1st generation models are marked with the suffix “1.0”, and all 2nd generation models have the suffix “2.0”.
