FAQ

The frame geometry of the XS frame size does not allow large 29-inch wheels. On the other hand, smaller wheels in 27.5 inches (650 b) enable a balanced ratio to suit the respective body size and ideal driving behavior.

Clincher tires
A clincher tire is now the normal case for a bicycle tire, at least in the trekking segment. The wire ring in the tire bead prevents the tire from expanding under pressure and thus jumping off the rim.

Folding tire
The folding tire is a special case of the clincher tire and is mainly used in the high-quality segment. Here the wire is replaced by a bundle of Kevlar threads. This allows the tire to be folded up and, depending on the size of the tire, is around 50-90 g lighter.

Tubeless tires
If tubeless is desired, you can order this separately.
Attention: Tubeless Easy tires are not automatically tubeless - that is just the Schwalbe designation of the compatible tire types (TLE, TLR, etc.). Only when you select tubeless under "wheel" in the wheel configuration will the bike be upgraded to tubeless compatible. In the case of shipping bikes, the bikes are delivered with a tube and can be converted with the supplied material.
With tubeless tires (= tubeless system), a bicycle tube is not required. Tires and rims are designed in such a way that they seal directly against one another. This requires special rims, tires, rim tapes, valves and a sealing liquid. The tubeless system in the bicycle sector has many advantages such as speed, comfort, girp and puncture resistance. Unnecessary friction between the tire and tube is avoided. In addition, the system is now mature and suitable for the masses.

The battery of your e-bike is only minimally charged upon delivery. It is therefore important that you fully charge it before your first ride.

  • The range depends on a number of important factors: topography, headwind, outside temperature, body weight, cadence. The most important factor, however, is your own wattage, which you are ready or able to control! In addition, it is crucial how you use the support modes of the motor and how much altitude you climb.
  • During our tests with bikes that use the SHIMANO EP8, we were able to cover a maximum of 210 km in Eco mode.
  • During our tests with bikes that use the Brose S Mag, we were able to cover a maximum of 140 km in eco mode.
  • During our tests with bikes that use the FAZUA, we were able to cover a maximum of 95 km in eco mode.

You can find the weight information directly on the configuration page of the respective e-bike.

The weights given in the weight calculator have been compiled with the utmost care and are usually based on information from our suppliers, which is why deviations of up to 10% are possible.

Our lightest e-bike, the Roadmaxx ELF, weighs just 16.25 kg.

Boost is basically a standard that is open to all manufacturers and describes the dimensions of the rear wheel hub, front wheel hub and crank of the mountain bike (MTB).
The rear hub grows from 142 to 148mm and the front hub from 100 to 110mm width. At the same time, the chain line moves further outwards, which is why Boost also makes adjustments to cranks and chainrings necessary. The crank width remains unchanged.
Boost is a completely new standard that is not compatible with 110/20 or 100/15.

Every change to a configuration that is saved generates a new configuration code. With this configuration code, you can call up your configuration from any device at any time.

If you send your configuration to a friend and the friend then makes changes to the configuration, a new configuration code is created when he or she saves or orders the configuration.

Bicycle trailers: Please note that the operation of bicycle trailers is only permitted with hardtails and there only via a professional coupling to the rear wheel axle. Under no circumstances, however, via an attachment to the seat post or luggage carrier. Full-suspension bikes (fullies) are generally excluded from the operation of bicycle trailers.

MAXX performs professional surface retreading of high-quality frames, rigid forks, swingarms and other add-on parts made of aluminum or steel - regardless of brand. We have state-of-the-art facilities for this, such as chemical paint stripping, blasting, chemical pre-treatment and, of course, a high-performance powder coating plant.

Please note: During the peak season March-October, we unfortunately do not perform frameclinic orders.

Your finished bike will be delivered in a large box by a forwarding agency. The bike is ready for the first ride in just a few simple steps. Fix the pedals (please follow the instructions) and the stem / handlebars and drive off.

The wheels are delivered in a setting for safe transport. You set the saddle height yourself so that you feel comfortable on your first test kilometers. The suspensions are always filled, you only have to take care of the correct air pressure and the suspension settings yourself. This way you get to know the effect, technology and functionality of the suspension in the respective settings and thus use the potential of the bike better. The requirements, seating position, weight distribution and preferences are too diverse to be able to set them before shipping

We offer by far the largest selection of equipment options with the help of our configurator. Equipment requests that cannot be selected in the configurator are unfortunately not possible. Due to our work process and product safety, it cannot be deviated from.

Please first check whether the specified seat height ranges for both possible frame sizes are right for you. If this is the case, the following rules of thumb apply: If you decide on the smaller frame size, you choose the shorter and deeper version. The result: You sit sportily and compactly on the bike. With this bike you get a lively ride with more agility. If you choose the larger frame, you will sit a little more comfortably because the chosen bike is longer and higher. In comparison, this frame size offers more driving stability, which ensures better straight-line stability. We recommend that you make your choice based on the intended use and personal preferences. If you are not sure, we recommend comparing it to your current bike or visiting one of our MAXX dealers. Here you will receive detailed advice on bicycle ergonomics and you can already test ride test bikes.

After receiving your order, we will send you an order confirmation within 24 hours. This order confirmation contains an estimated delivery date. Please note that the information given is an estimated delivery date at the time of your order. Shortly before collection or shipping, you will be informed separately that your bike is ready.

All MAXX bikes are fully assembled, adjusted and checked by qualified mechanics. The handlebars are transverse and the pedals can only be dismantled in the bike box for packaging reasons. You can easily attach these yourself according to our assembly instructions.

E-bike: When your MAXX e-bike is shipped, the battery is charged to 30%.

If you are not to be found at the delivery address at the time of delivery, you will find a notification in your mailbox. The goods must then be picked up at the post office mentioned within the next 7 working days. Please take your identity card with you. Another person with a power of attorney can also pick up the package for you.

The delivery time of your bike depends on the selected components. The estimated delivery time can be found at the bottom of the configurator and shows you how long it will take until your bike is ready.

Cold and heat reduce the performance of the battery. Extreme temperatures can irreparably destroy the battery. The battery is a sensitive and expensive component of your e-bike. Be sure to observe the minimum and maximum operating and charging temperatures specified in the operating instructions.
Depending on the manufacturer, these are approximately: charging min. 0°C to max. 45°C and
in operation min. minus 10°C to max. plus 50°C.
At low temperatures below 10°C, a battery can lose some capacity, which only affects the current range and increases again when it gets warmer.
During winter operation at temperatures below five degrees, it is advisable to remove the battery from the bike, store it at room temperature and only reinsert it in the e-bike shortly before setting off. After the ride or for longer breaks of more than 10 minutes, ideally remove the battery and store it indoors at temperatures between 10°C and 20°C or recharge it.
Do not expose the e-bike and the electrical components to pressurised water or steam jets. The bike, the electronics, the motor and also the battery inside the bike are adequately protected against normal splash water, as occurs when cycling in heavy rain. After riding in heavy rain, allow the bike to dry off and remove the battery before washing the bike. Protect the power contacts with a little pole grease once or twice a year.
Do not drop the battery or damage the housing.

Bikes and e-bikes without batteries can be wintered indoors or outdoors as long as they are protected from snow, rain, extreme sun and extreme temperatures. Perfect if you have a garage or space for your bike in the basement.
Remove the battery from your e-bike if it is not going to be used for a long period of time (winter) and store it at about 50% capacity in a dry place at 10° to 15° degrees. Never store the battery at less than 20% or more than 80% capacity for weeks.

Current lithium-ion batteries are reliable for many years with good care, proper storage and handling. The BMS (Battery Management System) also protects the battery from excessive temperatures due to operation, overloading and deep discharge. Depending on riding and charging behaviour, charging cycles and experienced temperature conditions, etc., a battery can function well for well over 5 years in the bike. After around 500 - 700 charging cycles, about 80% of the original capacity can usually be used and therefore less range is normal. The battery wears out due to the intensity of your use, charging practice, temperatures experienced by the cells and also according to the calendar. Therefore, it is not possible to give an exact service life.

The battery can generally be recharged without complications, but you should consider the following important points for a long life of the energy bar:

- Charge a new battery to 100% without interruption before the first ride. Before doing so, "wake up" the battery and follow the LED instructions.
- Do not charge in cold below 0 degrees or in heat above 30 degrees. Optimal temperature is 10 to 15 degrees.
- Do not fully charge again after a 5 km ride to the bakery.
- Do not start a longer tour when the battery level is below 30%. Recharge before
- Also one hour intermediate charge during a coffee break on a long tour is ok. And bring back 30-40% for the next meters of altitude.
- The battery feels best at a charge level between 30% and 60%.
- Note the LED indications on the battery and on the charger regarding the state of the battery.
- One charge cycle is from 0% to 100% charge. 4x 25% charge is also a complete charge cycle.
- Do not intentionally run the battery below 20% remaining charge.
- If it is not necessary, save the battery over 80% charge.
- If you use only 15% battery each day on your usual trips, then it is also enough to recharge only every third or fourth day.
- Interrupting the charging process does not harm the battery
- Do not leave the charger and battery unattended during charging. A smoke detector in the room is advisable
- Only use the original charger
- When charging is complete, disconnect the charger plug from the battery and disconnect the charger from the mains.

The charging time depends on the total capacity to be charged or Ah (ampere hours) of the battery and the charging current in A (ampere) of the charger. These values are written on the devices. Battery Ah divided by charger A plus charge loss gives the duration in hours.

Example:
Shimano EP8 DARFON battery with 36.3 volts / 20 Ah / 726 Wh (nominal) is charged with a DARFON Smart Charger with a little over 5 amps results in a little over 4 hours from 0% to 100% with charge loss.
FAZUA RIDE 60 with 43.2 V / 9.6 Ah / 439 Wh battery charged with 3A results in over three hours charging time.
An empty battery is initially charged faster and from about 80% is charged with less charging current. A programming regarding charging time is not possible. A timer at the outlet can simply help to disconnect the battery from the charging current before 100%.

Even for short distances of the e-bike on the bike carrier remove the battery! This saves your arms the unnecessary weight when loading and unloading the bike and the wheel carrier, etc. is less stressed. Stow the battery safely in the trunk out of sunlight.

And now out into nature and have fun with your new e-bike from MAXX

VAT regulation for residence and delivery to other EU countries or Switzerland: We are required by law to invoice the valid VAT of the destination country. Therefore, the amount of VAT may differ from the stated prices in the configuration, as it includes the valid German VAT. The order confirmation or invoice will show the appropriate VAT.

Shipping: We ship the bikes fully assembled in solid special boxes - on the European continent by ground as part load by truck, otherwise by air freight. Due to the large batteries, ebikes cannot be transported by air due to IATA regulations, or only with an extreme safety surcharge. The prices for bike shipping depend heavily on the destination and must be requested individually.

Ultralight, weatherproof, 100% noiseless thanks to the crossed installation and with a clean look - these are the advantages of cables laid inside. If a cable change is necessary, this can be done depending on the bike, but mostly through the inspection opening on the bottom bracket.
